And adds by asking for any tips for going deep into the West. The man replies and warns him not to travel west and instead instructs Joel to head east. This sequence which warns about the dangers of the West was not featured in the game and is new to the show.

Dam Sequence

The dam scene which gamers got to witness in the game is not present in the series. In the game, Jackson’s settlement inhabitors go to the Dam, which powers the whole place. Tommy along with his wife Maria and some other settlers go there to fix some problems.

All of these are not portrayed in the series. Instead, Joel runs into a group of survivors heading out to Colorado, where Maria discovers that he is Tommy’s brother after his interaction with the survivors.

Ellie Running off

There was a scene in the game where Ellie overhears Joel and Tommy’s conversation. She hears him asking Tommy to escort Ellie to the fireflies. She gets emotional over this and steals a horse to run off to a nearby abandoned ranch.

Shimmer the horse plays a big role in the second part of the game. In the Last of Us 2, she is the horse owned by Ellie. But in the first game, the horse was not shown. Though in the show, Shimmer gets introduced to her future owner and Joel.

The news of Maria’s pregnancy

This is another scene portrayed in the show and not the game. When Joel asks Tommy to escort Ellie to Fireflies, he tells his brother that he cannot. Especially because Maria is pregnant. He talks about how much he is scared of becoming a dad and adds that he does not want to risk his life for someone else right now. This leads to a verbal confrontation between the two. These were original to the show.
