Ellie is a complex character, and her complexity shines through the actor who plays her. Bella Ramsey is an equally brilliant actress and it is clearly evident she understands the character of Ellie inside out.

And as has been said a number of times, actors create characters. So, who created Ellie? Bella Ramsey plays her proficiently, but Ashley Johnson gave that character everything that defines her.

Her mannerisms, her playfulness, and that sadness. Previously, there was news all over stating that those actors from the games would have prominent parts to play in the series. Troy Baker, who plays Joel, was featured in the most recent episode as the right-hand man of David.

But Ashley would have a more significant part to play, as she was recently teased in the preview of Episode 9. There is speculation that she might be playing the role of Ellie’s mother.

If that’s true, then this casting cannot be more deserving and poetic; she actually created that character along with the writers of that game. And now that she will be shown as the mother of Ellie, there can’t be a better homage to her than this.

Episode 9 might be the darkest of them all

While David died in Episode 8, and he is mostly seen as the main villain of the game, there might be even worse things coming. As by adding new characters to the series, the creators keep expanding this story in every way they can.

It is expected that Episode 9 would mostly feature a back story about Ellie’s birth and her way into that military school, and viewers would be led towards that dark finale momentarily.

The fact that her mother would make an appearance here means we might even see her pass, which would make this series even sad for some.
