Naughty Dog had teased that they are working on a Last of Us Television series on HBO Max. But no details were revealed of this collaboration since then. The fans were desperate for some bits of information regarding this project. And a recent development on the HBO max page may shed some light of hope for the fans. 

The Last of Us is an action-adventure Horror gaming series developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The LoU games are renowned for their very well-written grim dark stories and world-building. 

So far, the series has received two games. Both of them are critically acclaimed and loved by the gaming community. The amazing storyline and setting of the franchise are perfect for a television adaptation. 

HBO Max Last of Us page potentially teased the release date of the series 

On Twitter, Naughty Dog News Provider Naughty Dog Central posted a tweet featuring a screenshot of the Last Of US page on HBO Max. The screenshot had the Season 1 sneak peek page of the series. And the description on it had an interesting sentence that could potentially give away the official release date of the series.

The description on the screenshot had the following text: “A preview of the post-apocalyptic drama series based on the critically acclaimed video game. Premieres, Jan 15.” Implying that the series could be released on January 15, 2023. 

Even the Tweet by Naughty Dog Central had the caption, “The Last Of Us: HBO premieres January 15th according to the HBO MAX page.” 

What do we know about the series so far? 

The Last of Us game’s stories are based on a future where humanity has been decimated by a fungal infestation. The fungus affects the brains and bodies of its victims, turning them into mindlessly ferocious and blind creatures. Forcing them to use echolocation to find people — and rip their throats out. 

The series is expected to continue the game’s story. Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal and his GOT co-star Bella Ramsey will play the main characters of the series Joel and Ellie. Together they will dive into their tragic adventure in the apocalyptic world of the LoU.
