The buzz around the awakening of EA’s celebrated Skate series has been trending for a long while. Electronic Arts had left the fans pleasantly surprised when they announced a revival of the popular franchise. The last official release in the series was the third edition of 2009. And now, the developers decided to call off the long resting period. With the announcement of a planned Skate 4, the speculations and leaks began to fire. 

What made the hype around Skate 4 more interesting was the vision of the project. The makers have decided to call the forthcoming title ‘Skate’ hinting at the possibility of a reboot. Moreover, everything that has been made public, yet, seems like we are all set for an ultimate reboot. Amidst the theories running around the highly anticipated project, a leak from the reboot has taken the internet by storm. The alleged leak gives intriguing insights into the gameplay of the Skate reboot.

For a reboot to work, there is a long list of gamers’ checklists that have to be fulfilled. Thus, the eligibility criteria for a franchise revival are always tough. However, EA seems all ready for the challenge. Atleast it’s what fans took away from the recently leaked footage of the gameplay. There were plenty of expectations from the developers in the context of what new offerings would be made in the reboot. If not everything, the viral footage does account for some promising new additions.

Ever since EA confirmed their interest in reviving Skate, fans were invested in the further developments. Initially, the project was expected to roll out in the year 2023. From the current impressions, a 2023 release now seems too good to be true. 

The video, which has been making the rounds on social media, was taken during recent play-tests that EA has been doing. These play-tests, which are now open to more participants, have frequently led to the same footage being released. Despite the fact that the play-testing is now taking place on the PC, EA has guaranteed console users that a play-test for consoles will come next.

The slight glimpse into the gameplay has teased a lot of possibilities in the upcoming giant. Which brings us to the question, what can we expect from the upcoming Skate?

In the era of gaming reboots and revisits, there are a lot of hopes for the Skates project. The visionary plan to adapt the decade-old classic to the new formats of gaming and come up with an immersive output sounds like a big challenge. However, while it’s quite early for the fans to review the job, the viral clips are convincing enough to keep the fans engaged in what’s about to unfold.

Early editions of the game didn’t have a specific emphasis on mobility expansion. However, this reboot has made some serious innovations in the feature. Now, there’s more to your character than just getting off the skateboard and running. It will be interesting to see if the game can keep up with its impressive early impressions with time.
