Just like every other year, publishers will announce a bunch of new games at The Game Awards 2023. While the show recognizes games for various achievements, it also serves as a platform for major announcements. For instance, last year, legendary video game director Hideo Kojima revealed Death Stranding 2 during this showcase. Similarly, fans are wondering what’s coming this time around.

Amidst this period of anticipation, fans are eagerly speculating on what the upcoming TGA will showcase. And some fans have noticed clues as to what Activision might end up revealing during TGA 2023.

A Spyro fan page took to X (formerly Twitter) to share why the upcoming TGA is the perfect platform to announce the next Spyro game. They seem to have put two and two together and found out what Activision is planning. Most notably, they seem to have found out exactly what they will be revealing during the Game Awards.

The social media post pointed out some signs of this happening. The first thing they pointed out is that in 2023, it will have been 25 years since Spyro the Dragon launched. Second, Rumble Season 3 will be adding Spyro the Dragon to its roaster on the same day as TGA 2023. And finally, according to the Chinese zodiac, 2024 is the year of the dragon.

This isn’t the first time there has been talk about a new Spyro game, though. A couple of months back, there was a rumour about Spyro 4: Mystery of the Dragon. The rumour ultimately turned out to be fake, but it’s hard to ignore the Spyro Universe X post.

Let’s not forget that a couple of years ago, Activision also announced a Crash Bandicoot game during the Game Awards. Further, if Rockstar Games decides to reveal the GTA 6 trailer during the show, every other company would need a heavy hitter, anyway.

Fans contemplate the possibility of a new Spyro game

As this post caught steam, a number of fans came forward stating how excited they were regarding this possibility. There are some who are revealing what they expect the next Spyro the Dragon game to be. Meanwhile there are others who think Activision does not care about anything other than Call of Duty nowadays.

One user seems all hyped up, suggesting that there’s no better time for Activision to make the announcement, as all “the stars are aligned.”

However, another user doesn’t think so, as they feel there’s too much focus on their famed FPS franchise, Call of Duty.

This user speculated that Activision might be planning to release the remasters of Crash purple and Spyro orange games.

Another user hopes Spyro fans get a better deal than the Banjo Kazooie fans got. The series marked its 25th anniversary earlier this year, in June. However, the devs reportedly confirmed there won’t be a new Banjo game.
