Along with fans of the manga and the anime, many streamers also joined the bandwagon to give their two cents on the live depiction of the Straw Hat Pirates and their possibilities of being a hit or a miss.

Moist Charlie is a known face across streaming platforms, and he was among those who had to watch the One Piece trailer to believe it. In a YouTube video uploaded from his channel, the streamer reveals that he has taken a long time to get acquainted with the One Piece universe, and like many others, he has been a fan of the series. “I don’t think it’s great. Charlie mentioned that the live adaptation trailer didn’t really leave a dent in his mind. He mentions feeling indifferent to the upcoming Netflix release, saying he neither likes nor dislikes what the trailer has to offer. On the other hand, Charlie looks back at previous attempts by Netflix to adapt anime franchises, saying, “They haven’t had a hit yet.”

Furthermore, he mentions that many hardcore fans of the manga have come out blatantly dissing the trailer, and he understands why such a reaction would be understandable from those who have been loyal followers for a long time. However, the fact that Oda is heavily involved in the process makes Charlie consider that a blessing.

Hasan Piker also couldn’t stay away from all the clout and had to get on the trend as well. The popular political commentator, known for his liberal and pro-left antics on YouTube, was seen reacting to the trailer video with another streamer, Morgpie. Hasan immediately expressed his disbelief at seeing a Brazilian being cast as Luffy, while he couldn’t accept the fact that Sanji was cast to look like a much older character than he really is.

Hasan mentioned that such adaptations have never been successful unless they went for almost a copy of the original series, and the live adaptation of One Piece may also have to take the same path. “I don’t personally believe that live-action anime is ever good, so I don’t have a tremendous amount of support or belief that it will be good.” However, Hasan was amused by the over-the-top extravaganza, which seemed to be true to both the anime and the manga.
