Nintendo Switch got a slight rework in the form of Nintendo Switch OLED this year. But not much has changed hardware-wise and performance-wise. Most owners would want to stick to their old and trusty Nintendo Switch until Nintendo comes out with a beefier Nintendo Switch Pro. But one game developer has a contradictory idea about the Switch’s hardware and even says that Nintendo shouldn’t feel compelled to create more powerful handheld devices. He even says some interesting things to back his theory up.

World War Z developer says Nintendo Switch needs no powerful hardware

Dmitry Grigorenko was asked what he’d prefer to see in a potential Nintendo Switch Pro in a recent Nintendo Everything. Dmitry was the lead designer in World War Z, and he said, “I don’t think the Switch needs a more powerful version that badly. Saber and many other talented studios have already proven that there is no such thing as an impossible port. Nintendo consoles were never about hardware, they were always about something that boosts your gameplay experience, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.”

But Grigorenko even hinted that better hardware and smaller patch size limitations would be welcoming. The designer interestingly says that nothing is impossible when it comes to porting, and if studios do it right, the ports can come to Switch.

The recent Switch OLED is currently a mixed bag as players are facing a dilemma. While some want to buy shiny OLED models, others want to wait for the potential Switch Pro announcement.

In comparison to the current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch has been lagging behind a bit. The current-gen Switch lets you play on a mere 30fps with not-so-good HD resolutions. With the Steam Deck already taking the PC world by storm, it would be interesting to see what the company has in mind for Nintendo Switch players.
