Tech YouTuber warns Elon Musk about an upcoming Tesla feature

Recently, news of Tesla buying a German wireless charging provider company Wiferion for a whopping $76 million became public. This deal will most probably bring wireless charging to Tesla cars. According to Marques Brownlee, however, it should not be implemented. He sent out a tweet warning Elon Musk which read, “This is fascinating because everything I know about wireless charging and electric cars suggests this is a bad idea.”

Wiferion will bring wireless charging docks for Tesla cars that will help them charge without much hassle. Earlier Tesla users had to connect a charging cable to their car at designated spots to charge their cars, much like conventional vehicles. With this futuristic approach, Tesla users would just have to park their vehicles and carry on with their activities.

But the views from Brownlee have now divided the opinions of many people. Wireless charging works with the help of an electromagnetic exchange of energy between two coils. This also implies that a significant amount of electromagnetic waves are dissipated in the surroundings when charging. This phenomenon has led to heating issues with wirelessly charged electronics. And the energy transfer while charging a Tesla would be much higher.
