The highly anticipated remaster of the beloved Metroid Franchise is receiving some highly positive reviews all over the board. Both fans and critics are praising the game for its amazing job of offering a new angle while being true to the original. But it is not all merry for the game as there are some people who are very displeased with a certain detail.

Metroid is one of Nintendo’s pillar IPs. The series is so influential that it helped establish a whole genre of games called Metroidvania. Prime series released back in the early 2000s for GameCube and WiiU reimagined the franchise in a new light. The first game in the Prime series was remastered for the new generation, which was recently released on Nintendo Switch.

The original Metroid Prime series was a revolution for the franchise. Previously, Metroid games were strictly platformers with immersive ambiance and horror elements. But Prime reimagined the games as a Horror FPS, much like Dead Space and Doom. While it was a risky gamble, the results were phenomenally good.

Just like the original, both critics and fans praised the highly remastered versions. From the visuals to the new layers of horror and dread, it truly felt suited for the new generation standard while being very true to the original. But the one thing in which the remaster failed miserably has made the community and some of the original team members discontent.

In the credit section of the remaster, the new developers were not very generous while giving tributes to the OG team. They paid their respect to the previous devs with a simple card with a short massage. This display of ungratefulness to the people who made the series possible has become a controversial topic in the community.

Zoid Kirsch who was part of the OG dev team wrote on Twitter, “While many studios did amazing work on the remaster, I’m let down Metroid Prime’s Remaster does not include the full original game credits. I worked with so many amazing people on the game and everyone’s name should be included in the remaster, not just a single card like this.”

In reply to this, one of the OG code developers of Prime wrote, “This is a travesty. Not just for my credit (even though most of my code was probably replaced), but for people whose code and work are largely unchanged, like Mark HH, Steve McCrea, all of the uprezzed art and concepts, the game design. Shameful.”
