Ubisoft has been working on bringing back its most prestigious franchises to the limelight. They have already announced a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil a while ago. Then they started working on the remake for their stealth game, Splinter Cell. That game is said to be pretty faithful to its original self. Only Assassin’s Creed remained.

In 2022, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was announced. The best part of that announcement for fans was the fact that Mirage would be doing a bunch of things that would bring fans of classics back to the series.

Assassin’s Creed started as a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia in 2007. This introduced fans to a new world of open-world stealth action with lots and lots of climbing. The first game had a bunch of climbing and jumping, but that was not really parkouring.

Assassin’s Creed 2 brought parkour into the mix. Fast action gameplay, stealth kills, poison blades, and throwing knives became a series mainstay. Fans could not get enough of blending in the cords and taking their targets down unnoticed and then escaping unscathed.

This went on and Ubisoft kept on introducing new elements to the series: smoke bombs, trip mines, traps, grenades, and even rocket launchers. And these additions made fans of classics drift further away from the series with every single new addition.

Ubisoft then made Assassin’s Creed Unity, one of the most detailed stealth games in the series that even had co-op. Even though it was excellent at its core, it was riddled with bugs and glitches, and some controversies didn’t help its case either.

And then Ubisoft decided to shift from stealth action to RPG. They made Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla as action RPGs. This step introduced this game to a new fanbase, but fans of the classics were not interested even the least. And that is why, with Mirage, Ubisoft is once again bringing back the classics.

It would be a more personal story, with more immersive parkour and a heavy focus on stealth. Ubisoft is hoping this would bring back those that have left this series behind long ago, but that would be seen when the game launches.
