Fans are hopeless after Battlefield 2042

When BF 2042 was first announced last year, it created immense hype among the fans of the action series. They were excited to see the next major entry in the now-iconic saga.

Not only that, Battlefield 2042’s development even involved other studios as well, apart from the main entity in DICE. Ripple Effect Studios, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games played crucial roles in its overall completion. In fact, Criterion had to put the next Need for Speed on hold due to this game, since it was one of the assisting studios.

But the entire enthusiasm turned out to be a massive disappointment, following the launch of Battlefield 2042 last year in November. The majority of the players, so far, have disliked the title due to various bugs and gameplay mechanics.

Following such a disastrous journey with the game, fans seem to have become cautious about any new Electronic Arts project in the future. And it looks like that’s the case as well, at the moment, at least going by the reaction to the recent leak from Tom Henderson.

As soon he dropped the news of Codemasters Cheshire coming up as the supported studio for Criterion, for the new Need for Speed, frustrated users came up with their reactions.

“This seems terrible for Codemasters,” wrote one angry fan.

Currently, there’s no official update on the next Need for Speed from EA. Meanwhile, Battlefield 2042 is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and PC.

What are your thoughts on the future of gaming at EA? Are you hopeful for the next NFS or not?
