Without over-exaggerating, this month’s Nintendo Direct acted as the needful potion for the fans. It unveiled many amazing game titles for the future. One such title was the retro special GoldenEye 007. And the developers have thrown some light on the behind-the-scenes proceedings regarding the game’s release.
GoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. Released in 1997, the game was inspired by the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye. Recently, it got a green flag for the Nintendo Switch console. But there was something mysterious about its launch.

Due to some licensing issues, the game’s release got obstructed. As reported by Nintendolife, during a GI Live panel earlier this week, Rare’s boss Craig Duncan spoke on the matter. He said, “To be honest, it took us longer than I wanted it to. We tried to get it lined up for when we did Rare Replay back in 2015, which I guess was Rare’s 30th anniversary.”
Furthermore, he said, “As you can imagine, things involving licences and published games just have complexity… there were lots of conversations, lots of conversations with our friends at Nintendo, the folks at MGM, the folks at Xbox, and we just kept talking until we made it happen. We made it happen, so I’m proud of that.”
Even though the early release of the game would have made the fans go on cloud nine, it all happened for the good, as gamers can soon enjoy GoldenEye 007 on the Switch console. And what comes as a brilliant bonus is the ‘online’ version for the Switch. Therefore, the game readies itself for making the future as classy as James Bond.

Furthermore, Faith Farm, the Octopath Traveller series, and Mario + Rabbid: Sparks of Hope also found their place in the Direct. Meanwhile, Mario + Rabbid: Sparks of Hope has been up for pre-orders. Nevertheless, the game has completed its main development and will be ready to hit the stores on October 26, in both physical and digital forms.
