Video game movies are not cursed anymore and the year 2022 has proved it with smash hits like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Uncharted. Speaking of the latter, then the Tom Holland starring big-screen adaptation is not done yet when it comes to creating new records.

As per the latest reports, Sony’s Uncharted film just went past the mark of $400 million at the global box office. It’s astonishing to witness such a performance from this film. That’s because of two main reasons: firstly, it has done despite being a video game movie. Secondly, it has managed to do so in an era impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Uncharted becomes only the 4th video game movie in history to cross $400 million worldwide!

As is already known, the film is based on the highly popular and beloved PlayStation series that goes by the same name. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, it stars Tom Holland in the iconic role of Nathan Drake. Moreover, the movie also features actors like Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, alongside Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.

Upon its release earlier this year, the film didn’t get favorable reactions from the critics. However, it defied all the negative reviews and took everyone by surprise after becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of 2022.

Industry insider Benji, on Twitter, recently revealed that Uncharted has now become only the fourth video game movie, ever, to earn over $400 million globally.
