The God of War series is one of the most famous action-adventure video game series. Further, the latest addition, God of War Ragnarok, is coming soon. But fans can’t wait to go on the journey with the God of War Kratos and his son Atreus once again.

The God of War games revolves around a Spartan warrior, Kratos, and his journey to becoming a God. There are eight games in the series so far, and with each game, fans get more hooked on the series. So while waiting for the upcoming God of War title, why don’t we look for some games which are also good action-adventure like this series.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Players loving God of War would like to try a Final Fantasy game. It is one of the longest video game series with 17 main games and some spin-offs. However, the best Final Fantasy has to be the seventh installment which came out in 1997. The game revolves around mercenary Cloud Strife, which fights an organization controlling the world.

The 1997 Final Fantasy is one of the fan favorites. However, many fans might not think about such an old game cause it might not come near to the visuals of the God of War games. But Square Enix remade the Final Fantasy 7 with the latest graphics and gameplay and released it for the latest generation devices in 2020.

Not to forget, the game features a gripping story that revolves around Dante and Nero, who has demon blood in their veins and fight against evil from taking control of the world. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Faans seeking an adventure similar to God of War would love to play the 2019 Activision game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This action-adventure received praises for the gameplay and the setting. Further, it won multiple Game of the Year awards.

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, fans will play as a revenge-driven Shinobi named Wolff instead of a mighty demigod like Kratos. Also, fans would fight against enemy samurai instead of gods and other mythical beings. Undoubtedly, an action-adventure game fan would love to play Sekiro.

Horizon Zero Dawn

It is another Playstation Exclusive like God of War. So, fans can expect great things from this 2017 action-adventure. Horizon Zero Dawn got a sequel in 2022 but the first game is still a fan favorite. The game was praised for the setting and the storyline along with the fluid gameplay.

Players will take on the role of Aloy, a woman in a post-apocalyptic world which is dominated by mechanical beings. So, Aloy is on the adventure to unravel the past and the ways for humans to take control of the machines. This game will not feature Gods and mythical beings but the post-apocalyptic setting and plot will amaze you for sure.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 is last and the best on this list. This action-adventure is a treat for fans who like the God of War. Witcher 3 is the last installment in the CD Projekt Red’s Witcher series. This 2015 game is around seven-year-olds but still, fans love this absolute gem.

Like God of War, this is also based in a mythical world where players take on the role of a monster-slaying mercenary named Geralt of Rivia. He is on the journey to slay monsters and protect his adoptive daughter Ciri from a threat called Wild Hunt. This action RPG was a colossal hit and still serves as a benchmark for many present-day RPG games.
