Nintendo is known for its priority towards nonviolent games. Why wouldn’t that be? From the very beginning, Nintendo is known for making games that can be enjoyed with the whole family. From Mario to the Pikmin franchise, all of Nintendo’s globally popular franchises show no green sign of absolute violence.

Now fans would agree that what might be true music to someone, can be an absolute noise pollution to others. So, there is no straight characteristic to define what is Nintendo’s idea of violence. However, looking at its history of games, it is fair to say that Nintendo prefers to avoid titles with gruesome cinematic violence. That is why even after positive popularity, some games never appeared on Switch. Want to know what are these games?

Since Nintendo’s Mario received an overwhelming response as a movie, this game publishing giant is offering fair competition to stalwarts like PlayStation and Xbox. However, one slight thing is that Nintendo has yet to overrule its previous objection to visually violent games. Though the survival horror game Outlast 2 made its appearance on Switch earlier, many famous names didn’t appear on Switch for this reason. Among the names, the top five games are as follows.

1. Hatred

Destructive Creations’ PC shooter game received an AO rating for gruesome violent scenes and explicit language. However, the game was banned from most of the platforms, making it a hard chance to ever appear on Nintendo’s Switch.

2. The Punisher 3

Vlition’s third-person shooter game received an M rating for blood and gore with abusive language. This title was released on Steam, PlayStation 2, and Xbox but never on Switch.

3. Thrill Kill

Paradox Development Studio’s Thrill Kill received an AO rating. It was available on PlayStation 1. Thrill Kill’s gruesome gore and violence never received Nintendo’s approval to release on Switch.

4. GTA: San Andreas

Much like any other GTA title, this game received a mature rating. It was for violence, drug use, and language in the game. Although this very famous game was available on PlayStation 2 and 3, Xbox original and 360 with PC, macOS, Android, and iOS, it never came on Switch.

5. Fahrenheit

Indigo Prophecy Director’s Cut- Despite being available on multiple platforms including PlayStation 2 and 4 with Xbox 360 and Original, this game wasn’t released on Switch. Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Director’s Cut received an M rating for nudity, blood, alcohol use, and violence.

Now fans know that Nintendo has a very strict policy for almost everything. Recently, organizers spoke about Nintendo making multiple restrictions on third-party championships regarding merchandise and many things. Following that it is undeniable that if Nintendo has a policy on propagating non-violent games, they will dedicatedly do that. While these violent games are not available on Switch, one can indulge in many other titles like Bloodroots, and Happy Game on Switch.
