Finally, HBO Max revealed all the Harry Potter books would be adapted into a TV series. But what can the showrunners learn from the success of Hogwarts Legacy?

5. Explore Hogwarts and its surroundings

The Harry Potter movies were so loved because they let many fans who read about the Wizarding World and Hogwarts School come to life. However, fans never got to explore the entire Hogwarts castle or the surrounding areas like the Hogsmeade village in the movies.

Hogwarts Legacy, on the other hand, fulfilled the ambition of exploring every nook and cranny of Hogwarts. Moreover, fans were also able to explore the Hogsmeade Village and the other surrounding areas of the school.

4. Focus on the side characters more

Like bringing the Wizarding World to life, the movies also brought famous characters from Rowling’s novels to life. But watching the movies, it felt like they were more focused on the lead character, Harry Potter. Compared to the boy who lives, the other characters like Ron Weasley didn’t get that much attention.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy developed every character and bonds with them throughout the game. For example, we get to know more about Ominis Gaunt as the game progresses. Similarly, the TV series can focus on building every character in the Harry Potter series.

3. Explain the actions better

Many Potterheads have always complained about how many steps in the movies weren’t properly explained, like in the books. For example, many people get confused about why some “Patronus Charms” take the form of an animal and some don’t.

So when creating the TV series, the showrunners should keep this in mind and explain the actions on the show. After all, the Wizarding World is quite complex. However, Hogwarts Legacy did not compromise on this part because the game explained every action and quest.

2. Use different spells during fights

From Patronus to Avada Kedavra, we got to see almost every major spell in the Harry Potter lore. However, they were not often used in combat or exploration across the movies. Meanwhile, the game made it significant for the players to use various spell combos in battle or for exploring the Wizarding World.

The creators of the upcoming HBO adaptation can take inspiration from Hogwarts Legacy on how to make use of spells in action or exploration. Undoubtedly, it would make the show better.

1. More Fantastic Beasts would be great

The original Harry Potter movie only introduced us to very few magical creatures. It was until the spin-off movie series, Fantastic Beasts, we got to meet a lot of new magical animals. Meanwhile, the game had players catch magical beasts and farm them for materials.

It would be great if the Harry Potter TV series would include a lot more Fantastic Beasts than the original films.
