Activision first released Call of Duty Zombies as a part of their 2008 title, World of War. The game mode had less popularity in its initial years, as players focused more on the main storyline. But as years passed by, it went on from a mini-game to a must-have feature in Call of Duty titles.

Additionally, it also developed a massive fan base by grabbing the attention of some of the biggest e-sports players.

  • Nacht der Untoten map – World at War / Black Ops III

Activision released Nacht Der Untoten in different versions, so it was hard to choose one from them. Although being a fan of originality, we would always choose the initial one.

The map was first introduced in Call of Duty World at War, where players found themselves in a creepy room after the post-credits scene. They only had a pistol in hand, confirming that the game had more to it. As a result, it gave rise to the COD zombies’ legacy.

To date, the map seems challenging, unlike the one featured in Black Ops three, as it has no perks but 1 – 4 players in confined rooms.

  • Mob of the Dead map – Black Ops II

Activision released the Mob of the Dead map as a DLC for the Black Ops 2. Despite getting hate from most players, the map’s legacy will never fade. Mob of the Dead ranks among the classics, as it provides a top-class gaming experience while playing.

Interestingly, it takes players to the world of undead mobsters, asking them to find their way out. The Black ops 2 game mode was intense, unlike the others, who limited players to rooms and corridors.

  • Kino der Toten map – Black Ops

Unlike the Nacht der Untoten map, the Kino der Toten stands out as players consider it the greatest map of Call of Duty zombies. The map perfectly combines power and strategy whilst giving players a mesmerizing zombie land experience. Apart from that, the Black ops map also has an iconic setting, thanks to Activision, who designed it well.

  • Der Riese map – World at War

Apart from the Nacht der Untoten map, we absolutely adore the Der Riese. Activision had released the map alongside the above-mentioned one for Call of Duty: World at War. To date, we rank Der Riese above most of the Zombie maps, as the franchise put in their best to create this one.

The final map in our list will be none other than Zombies in Spaceland. Activision had introduced the map in Infinite Warfare, which came out in 2016. With David Hasselhoff as the host, players had to team up to open the right doors in a madland theme park full of thrills, spills and kills. It also had a mini-game, Astrocade, allowing players to try their hand at interactive arcade games and earn prizes.
