P.T.

Just a demo released in 2014, this “Playable Teaser” for a canceled Silent Hill game was a brilliant piece of horror experience. The demo followed a very simple structure, moving around in circles following a corridor, while strange events occur. The real terror that came to light was when a number of people hacked through the game to find out that the main antagonist of the game, Lisa, was always behind you.

This has thus sparked the thought several times that the concept can be made into a brilliant survival horror movie, whereby at the end of the film, it gets revealed that the ghost was always behind you. But would you dare to watch such a film?

Inside

With many commentaries but no dialogues, Inside was a game that will always be counted as one of the best horror adventure games in its genre. A spiritual successor to Limbo, the game follows the story of a boy running and hiding from an organization as he later reunites with a mold of flesh to destroy its facility.

Notably, the film made around this subject has to be very artistic and creative to bring out the true horror of the environment and the journey that the nameless boy follows. Notably, if played out correctly, Inside as a movie can be a wonderful experience to watch in theatres.

Dead Space + Alien Isolation + Prey

Now here is a game that has the true potential to be a true horror experience if made right. It is well known how Dead Space, Alien Isolation, and Prey as individual games have been the best horror experiences in sci-fi horror video games, but what if they all are blended?

Also, the fact that the story of all these games intertwine together almost perfectly surely hints that this story is begging to be told.

If directors like Ari Aster and Jordan Peele come together to make this film not as a sci-fi space horror, but as a psychological thriller in space, it is guaranteed a masterpiece to be made. What do you think?

Scorn

Although Scorn was released much more recently than the other games, it is a story worth telling. The game is not actually horror but gory, it surely has some key moments where you can find yourself feeling discomforted or disgusted, but Scorn in no sense is a true horror game. It is but a game talking about life and philosophy, where the player follows through a journey of life, pain, and suffering, to finally reach the end. But isn’t that the horror of life?

Scorn has true potential to be made into a film, but all it takes is a really imaginative creator and a dedicated cast to bring out that dislocated and alone vibe that the game is so strong in portraying.

Bioshock

It would be better if BioShock is not taken at its face value but rather its potential to tell a story. With the introduction of the protagonist to Rapture, from the time-traveling concepts, BioShock has the potential to be made into a series or an entire franchise of films.

The game has a different kind of story to tell rather than just any horror/jumpscare film, and it is brilliant. Bioshock in itself tells a lot, especially when you start feeling scared in a bright sunny heaven of goodness. That’s how brilliant the game was made, and it takes some really careful and creative people to make a film based on the story and a really talented star cast.
