Trainwreck Slams TwitchCon Decisions Amidst Concern Of Fans Travelling to France with Recent Turmoil

Twitch can’t seem to escape community criticism over almost all its recent activities. Now, the recent events in the French capital have many fans apprehensive about visiting this year’s TwitchCon. The upcoming event, scheduled for July 8th and 9th, is still on despite the riots that are rocking the country.
Under such circumstances, fans from the community are obviously skeptical about attending the event due to concerns over safety and security. However, Twitch isn’t backing down, which has garnered a lot of criticism from many fans. Amidst the dilemma, streamer Trainwreckstv took to social media to slam Twitch’s stance. The Kick co-founder alleged that Twitch’s decisions are coming from a purely money-minded standpoint where they expect fans to cover their losses.

The semi-annual event focuses on gaming and streaming culture where members of the community can interact with their favorite streamers in close quarters. The 2023 edition of the convention had some solid programs lined up and fans were excited to travel to Paris in July.

Trainwreck slams Twitch’s motivations
Twitch claimed that canceling the event would lead to a significant loss of money for them. Refunding options to fans were also ruled out. Such decisions came as a shock to many who believed that Twitch is focused on fans’ safety. The decision naturally irked many community members and Kick saw the opportunity to make their presence felt. The green platform has recently seen a flow of streamers joining their ranks after Twitch’s controversial new policies.

Kick co-founder Trainwreck took to Twitter to bash Twitch’s stances alleging that their focus on turning a profit will result in fan safety being compromised. In his post, he wrote that Twitch not backing down from the convention plans is like indirectly asking fans to cancel their plans, so the Amazon-owned platform doesn’t lose money. “We don’t want to cancel and lose money or refund and lose money, so we’ll go through with it and hope you cancel and lose money“, he wrote on Twitter, taking shots at Twitch.
