Since the news broke out, fans have been ‘purr’-sistently waiting for the upcoming feature film.

Stray – the motion picture

Publisher of the game, Annapurna Interactive has decided to develop an animated film based on the video game. This decision is influenced by the game’s viral success and captivating cat’s perspective.

On 5th September, Robert Baird, one of the heads of the Annapurna Animation department, took to Entertainment Weekly to reveal the upcoming film. After the success of their first film Nimona, Annapurna Animations has decided to release quite a few motion pictures which include titles like Twelve Minutes, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Outer Wilds.

Although he didn’t speak much about the release date of the movie, Baird mentioned the intricacies the studio will have to pay attention to, in order to be able to do justice to the video game. He also described Stray as a “buddy comedy” about a cat and a robot which he is excited to portray in the film.

Fans want more from Stray

While many fans were excited for the feature film. Others got straight to the point and raised questions about a sequel to the game.

The news struck an intrigue among some followers of The Game Awards. Some even shared how they were excited about the announcement despite not playing the game.
