Twitch and Facebook are Winning Despite YouTube Gaming Having Dr Disrespect and TimTheTatman

This year, YouTube Gaming has made some big moves and procured influential celebrity streamers to stream their content exclusively for YouTube. Big names include TimTheTatman, DrLupo, to name a few have joined aboard. The expansion has played well so far for YouTube but not enough. Despite losing some big names, Twitch hasn’t ‘t seen much of a decline in its viewership count.

A new report claims that Twitch is still in the lead in terms of viewership hours, followed by the Facebook Gaming platform. YouTube secures the third spot.

Expansion spree is not helping YouTube Gaming win viewership hours

The report comes via Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet Q3 2021 Live Streaming Industry Report, which shares several statistics about different streaming companies in multiple key areas. One area that’s getting the most attention is viewership hours. Viewership hours are crucial as they play a substantial role in generating revenue. And it also tells us how much viewership each company is getting.

The report reveals that Twitch marked a viewership of 5.79 billion hours, followed by the Facebook Gaming platform, which garnered 1.29 billion hours. Coming in at number three, YouTube Gaming reported 1.13 billion hours. Twitch clearly is winning the race or even leading it and YouTube Gaming has a lot of catching up to do.

YouTube had started its expansion spree around 2019 and has been steadily adding heavy hitters to its lineup. Dr DisRespect leaving was one of the most significant blows to Twitch, followed by his buddy TimTheTatman. But it seems like the company has a long way to go still.

Facebook Gaming platform is a surprise entrant and has been successful in amassing players. The streaming platform was launched recently and is giving tough competition to big giants in the space.
