As another EA soccer title rolls around, the Ultimate Team mode comes with it. A staple feature of the franchise, EA Sports leveled up their game for Ultimate Team with FC 24, bringing new cards. With new walkouts set to make their debut, two of the most popular cards in the game became the talking point, once again.

It is of course the two G.O.A.T.S Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. While both their cards received massive downgrades from last year, they remain one of the top-tier cards to get in a pack. Getting one of these in a pack is an amazing feeling, but have you wondered what getting them both in the same pack can be like?

Fan gets Messi and Ronaldo in a single pack in FC 24

Following the release of FC 24, fans dove right into the deep end. The Ultimate Team mode was what most players set their sights on, trying to get some of the best players this year and build their team. As one fan opened packs in the game, they received both Ronaldo and Messi in the same pack!

The pack opening starts pretty routine, a walkout that becomes Cristiano Ronaldo, and the fan is already celebrating. Much to their surprise, Ronaldo gets put to the side, as Argentina’s La Pulga comes to the stage. This is such a rare occasion that it might have never happened in a FIFA game before.

The only reason it seems possible this year is the lowered ratings for both players. With Ronaldo at 86 and Messi at 90, the chance of getting the two of them in a pack becomes better. While the drop in the rating is a sight for sore eyes, fans welcomed the prospect of getting two G.O.A.T.S for the price of one!

EA Sports ushers into a new era of soccer

The drop in Messi and Ronaldo’s ratings really highlighted the period of transition soccer is seeing at the moment. Two of the biggest legends of the game are slowly moving away from their prime era. As FIFA becomes FC, we see a new era for soccer, one where fans really need to consider a world after Messi and Ronaldo.

In a way, FC 24 is making that happen. The two biggest stars in the game were positioned to mimic the Messi and Ronaldo rivalry, with Mbappe and Haaland. Each one is a powerhouse on their one, single-handedly winning matches. It was obvious the two would take the top 2 spots in terms of rating.

With this, we move to a new era in soccer, one makes fans face a terrifying prospect; soccer games without Messi or Ronaldo at the center of the events. Gone are the days when packing a 94-rated Messi or Ronaldo card was the highlight of the franchise.
