Unexpected Spotting of Joel From ‘The Last of Us’ in ‘Watch Dogs: Legion’ Has the Fans in Fits

When talking about experimental open-world games, we cannot avoid the Watch Dogs franchise. Released as a competitor to the GTA brand, Watch Dogs had high anticipations associated with it. But, at certain levels, it did not make the massive cut compared to Rockstar’s spectacular franchise. Still, the Ubisoft product is considered one of the most unique journeys in the open-world genre.

Now, interestingly there has been a new discovery by a fan of the game. According to a Reddit user, there was an intriguing detail in Watchdogs: Legion which has a connection with Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us. 

Fan spots a Last of Us reference in Watch Dogs

Collaborations are something that gaming fans adore. We can have seen it countless times in Fortnite, and other games. This works as a bridge between gaming fandoms and is a great way to increase the audience base. But, what if a collaboration happens through a coincidence? Though seems bizarre, this very idea was seen at play recently. A Reddit user who goes by the alias Priz011 spotted Joel from the Last of Us in Watch Dogs.

Yes, you heard it right! According to a screenshot shared by the aforementioned user, a character called Joel Miller was seen in Watch Dogs: Legion. This has now caused quite confusion among gamers worldwide. There have been no official declarations by Naughty Dog or Ubisoft regarding a crossover. But the character ‘Joel Miller’ in Watch Dogs: Legion has stark similarities with the Last of Us protagonist.

Even though there are shades of difference, fans are eager to spot the similarities. According to online Reddit users, the character Joel Miller in Watch Dogs has the same age as Joel from The Last of Us. The caption also caught the eye of the fans. It was written that Joel Miller was ‘released from mental hospital.’

For most people, this was quite a hilarious coincidence and they were sharing a joke or two seeing a ‘half-baked Joel’ in the game. Though no one can deny the stark resemblance on various fronts between the Watch Dogs character and the Last of Us protagonist.

Apart from this, The Last of Us community is eagerly waiting for Naughty Dogs to announce the multiplayer of their favorite post-apocalyptic title. We can expect an update regarding that by the latter half of 2023.
