Which gamer doesn’t like in-game achievements? The little pop-up from Steam lets players know they have achieved something significant. And although CS2 only features 2 achievements in the game so far, one of them is quickly gaining popularity among hardcore fans.

Players have been storming towards Steam ever since the long-awaited CS2 dropped. It is ready for players to dive into, and what makes it better is that it is free-to-play. Following its release, the game saw over 1.2 million players log in to try the new experience. While many of them are veterans from CS:GO, there are some new players who wanted a piece of the action too. Although new players can claim the game and play it, players who didn’t own CS:GO in the past will miss out on some exclusive rewards.

Veterans get the CS2 Global Offensive Badge

Valve released CS2 as a version upgrade for the original CS:GO. There are two ways players can get their hands on CS2. Players can either update their preexisting version of CS:GO or go to the Steam store to claim the game. Upgrading the game from CS:GO will give players rewards like an achievement unlock and a music pack.

There are currently only two unlockable achievements in the game. One for playing the first match in the game and the second for players who have upgraded from CS:GO. The latter unlocks the Global Offensive Badge. This states that the player has been playing the game since before the release of CS2. There is one thing to be noted; players joining the game post the launch of CS2 cannot get this badge.

As for the badge itself? It features a gold coin with the logo of the two teams on either side. This will mark that players with the badge have been around for a while.

The game’s launch brings in many new features. Some that players haven’t seen before. The new mechanical upgrades in the game have players captivated, but Valve had another secret up its sleeve.

Launch Bonus Music Kit

Valve greeted veteran players into CS2 with the launch of a celebratory music kit. This kit featured the iconic sounds of CS:GO. Having the CS:GO music kit gives the players the sense of a seamless transition between the games. Players who have owned CS:GO before the launch of CS2 can find the music kit in their inventory, where they can toggle it on or off at will.

Players can now use the music kit to enjoy the nostalgic sounds of Global Offensive. The music kit includes everything from menu music to in-game sound effects. It also includes sounds of Map objective, Death camera, MVP anthem. Even the sounds for the round start and end along with the 10-second warning change to make it just like the sounds in CS:GO.

In the end, it looks like Valve dropped CS2 with tons of surprises. While veterans get some added benefits, new players get to jump and explore the title. As players get into CS2, the veterans now have something to show for their experience. While there are only two achievements available in the game, players will just have to wait for Valve to release more.
