Mario Kart is a beloved franchise and players adore its each and every installment to date. Still, the classics are also having their own fanbase even in the modern era filled with tons of latest options. Thanks to such a craze, one player recently shocked everyone by finishing a Nintendo 64 version with a record speed run.

This proves that even the older Mario Kart titles are as good as the newer offerings among the Nintendo fanboys.

For those uninitiated, Mark Kart 64 is a 1996 title that originally made its debut for the Nintendo 64. It’s the second major installment in the racing kart series while also being a successor to Super Mario Kart for the SNES.

The game initially arrived in Japan on December 14, 1996 and then in the US on February 10, 1997. Later, it was also released for the Wii and Wii U as a Virtual Console title. Furthermore, it also made its way on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service in 2007, 2016, and 2021 respectively.

In Mario Kart 64, players take control of the characters based on the Mario saga. There are multiple tracks to choose from which are quite beneficial to the racers.

Meanwhile, a passionate fan recently came out with a stunning speedrun of the Nintendo 64 classic. A user named kaznMK64, on YouTube, uploaded a video showcasing how they finished the old Mario Kart in just 23 minutes and 28 seconds. Interestingly, it edges out the previous best achievement by only a second.

However, this specific speedrun was done under the “All Cups (Skips)” category. It simply means that the player completes all the races but is allowed to impose skips in between.

All things considered, it’s phenomenal to see how much the Nintendo players still love the classics from the past even today.

In another news, the gaming community is currently waiting for the next batch of the releases from the Mario publisher in 2022. The line-up looks promising as well, with the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Bayonetta 3, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The latter will be the first installment in the ninth generation of the Pokemon gaming series.
