Ubisoft originally developed the first game of the series for Microsoft Windows but has then diverged to other gaming consoles too. A recent Far Cry fan remake on Unreal Engine 5 has been getting attention from gamers as they are in awe of the graphical changes from this decades-old game.

Far Cry remake in Unreal Engine 5 is a sight to behold

Crytek originally developed Far Cry, before Ubisoft acquired the rights to the game. Far Cry was Crytek’s way to premiere their latest game engine, CryEngine. The Dunia Engine, a Ubisoft-modified version of the CryEngine, was used in the following games in the series, allowing for open-world gameplay. Ubisoft is also working on a new Far Cry title.

Now a fan has recreated the world of Far Cry in the latest game engine, Unreal Engine 5. Created by developer TeaserPlay, it is a technical demo and not a full-fledged playable game.

TeaserPlay ran the game demo on RTX 4090 with 4K dynamic resolution and 60 FPS. Despite the powerful GPU used in the demo, it still had trouble running this too. The high details of textures, the number of environment objects, and lumens made it difficult to run it on this graphic card. This goes to show the level of detail put into this decades-old game.
