Walmart has disheartening news for players. In the last few years, the gaming industry has gone through many changes. And one of them is the rise of digital content. Thanks to the streaming industry! We receive digital copies of the games even before they are released in the market. And now, Walmart has decided to put an end to the sale of Xbox games’ physical copies. 

It was not just Walmart, previously Target and Best Buy announced to stop selling the physical copies of the movies. They probably wanted to keep the future of the games undecided. However, it looks like Walmart already finalized its objective in this matter.

Yes! Walmart officially announced to stop selling physical copies of the Xbox games. However, their plan will be fruitful from 2024 and so on. While many might wonder the reason for Walmart singling out Xbox titles. It might probably be because Xbox’s latest Series S console is a digital-only device. Therefore, not many Xbox titles are also available in physical copies for buyers. Therefore, Walmart’s decision was probably something that was coming anyway to the fans.

Although Xbox titles are confirmed to be taken out from Walmart stores in 2024, the company has not spilled more beans about PS and PC games. Since the upcoming PS console, PS5 Slim also prioritizes digital gaming, they are offering an attachable drive for the digital version.

However, the PS5 Slim also comes with a variant with an attachable disc drive. And now that rumors hint at the Nintendo’s upcoming console being a digital-only variant, this might become a possible trend in the future. 

How lucrative Game Pass is for Xbox?

Recently Xbox is flooding the majority of the headlines since they successfully took over Activision Blizzard with $69 billion. And since then Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed some exclusive objectives of the company. Among these, their intention to flourish Xbox’s mobile gaming segment was quite lucrative news for the fans. Spencer also spoke about how greatly they depended on Xbox Game Pass’s cloud gaming feature.

In fact, the FTC vs Microsoft trial revealed that Xbox relied so much on the Xbox Game Pass that their internal chart showed Xbox aiming to reach over 100 million Game Pass users by 2030. And now that Activision’s successful inclusion also sheds some great light on cloud and mobile gaming ventures, fans should wait for some great surprises in the coming future.
