One of the most iconic names in the world of fighting games is Tekken. The series has been defining the genre for decades, alongside other classics such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Tekken is known for its diverse cast of fighters and wacky storytelling. For a long time, fans of the series have boasted that it is one of the most martial arts-accurate games in the genre.

But is that actually the case? To test this sentiment, Marital Artist/Filmmaker Noah Fleder and Action Actress Gemma Nguyen sat together with Noah Felder to analyze the move sets and fighting styles of the characters in Tekken 7. They gave their thoughts on Jin, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu, Nina, Kazuya, and many more.

The 2022 epic, “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, which swept the Oscars this year, had Gemma Nguyen as one of the stunt directors. She has also worked on other popular projects such as The Bullet Train, The Jungle Book, and more. On the other hand, Noah Fleder is a reputed martial arts expert who has been a part of many action productions.

Other than martial arts, both individuals have another thing in common, their love for video games. Recently, on the YouTube channel ‘Gamology’, they shared their expert thoughts on Tekken 7. Noah and Gemma were fascinated by the diversity of styles that characters used to fight their opponents in the game.

Among all, the mysterious yet eccentric Ninja/Samurai Yoshimitsu gained their attention the most. His outbound techniques and creative ways of using the blade made the experts look in awe. Lethal assassin Nina also fascinated Gemma, who couldn’t believe how she could deliver devastating blows with such a slender figure.

Back in September 2022, in a PlayStation State of Play livestream, Bandai Namco announced the next installment in the series, Tekken 8. It is confirmed that the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Although the release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, Namco has revealed they will soon hold a closed alpha test for the game.
