But the game’s creator Neil Druckmann confirmed to Variety that the HBO adaptation will show Anna’s backstory, “The one that shows up very late in the season is Ellie’s mom.”

Druckmann also revealed how he wrote Anna’s story after shipping the first game. There were also plans to bring this story to light via a short animated show or a DLC for the game. Finally, his dream came true after meeting the HBO-adaption’s co-creator, Craig Mazin, who was also intrigued to present this untold story.

So fans are going to see Anna’s backstory and her relationship with a newly born Ellie. Moreover, the original Ellie, Ashley Johnson, will play Ellie’s mother on the show. Neil Druckmann praised Anna’s appearance in the upcoming episode, “We brought it to life in the most beautiful, poetic way, which is Ashley Johnson playing Ellie’s mom and she was the original actor for Ellie.”

No matter what the series is, there is always hype for the finale. The Last of Us is no different, as fans are eagerly waiting for it.
