Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be launching in April 2023. The game is a direct sequel to 2019’s action-adventure title Jedi: Fallen Order. Set five years after its prequel, this game would follow Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis in search of answers that have haunted him for a while.
In this new adventure, he meets new allies and faces new enemies. Some enemies would be unlike any other he has faced before, and to fight never before seen enemies, a hero has to have some new tools in his own arsenal too. Newly introduced stances in this sequel would be those tools.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would feature a number of new stances and each of them serves a purpose!

Recently, IGN talked to the director and design director of Jedi: Survivor. He went ahead and described in detail how stances worked in this new game. He also talked about the purpose of introducing new stances and improving on older ones.
In games such as these, stances play an important part. They give players more flexibility to deal with different enemies. Some enemies that are faster can be defeated using a stance good for quick attacks and enemies that fight from a distance can be dealt with using a stance that gives players some reach.

Jedi: Survivor offers players five different stances to choose from. First is the all-rounder single-handed lightsaber. This gives players a decent reach and does medium damage.
The Dual-Blade stance is for those who like playing recklessly. This one allows them to make mistakes and even allows players to cancel their attacks. Other stances do not give players this freedom, which makes dual blade the go-to stance for beginners.
The Double-Bladed stance is slow, but very effective if you are dealing with a crowd. It has multiple spin attacks and that way it helps players dispose of the enemies surrounding them in an instant.
Then we come to the two newly introduced stances; the first of which is the Cross Guard stance. This stance gives players access to a hilted lightsaber which is similar to one Kylo Ren used in the recent Star Wars trilogy.

About this stance, game’s design director Jason de Heras says, “We wanted the player to feel really powerful, but that there’s also a big risk, probably even more so than Twin, I would say. You need to understand spacing because, with that stance, we don’t artificially push you toward an enemy. It’s kind of like a fighting game stance a little bit.” It’s a high-risk high-reward stance that gives players low range but high damage.
And finally Blaster Stance; any person with the know-how of what a Blaster is would know that this stance has the most range of them all. And it also plays into giving Cal some more character. Usually, it is not in a Jedi’s ethics to use a Blaster. This might help give him some more character too.
