A Dutch collector Don, and also the owner of the website Consolevariations, has put “The Golden Wii” up for sale. During an interview in 2021, he told Lifestyle Asia that he wanted to sell the console because he was “moving on with life.”

He further said, “I’ve been in one place for my whole life, it’s time to get my own place. At times it has been difficult for me to have free time or relax. Lately, it’s all CV and my daily job. When I come home, I don’t get to spend a lot of ‘me time’ so I would like to take the step and move on.”

Consequently, his first attempt to sell the console on eBay was for USD 300,000 in October 2021. Moreover, he received 700 bids even at the above price. But eBay had undergone a policy change that hindered the sale. As the seller’s history played a role while putting on a value on the item being sold.

“The Golden Wii” was to become a promo piece for THQ’s mini-game collection, Big Family Games. However, in 2012, the developers went bankrupt. And an unnamed person attained the console from which it went on to Don. Therefore, the console awaits its next owner, which can showcase the golden console as a prized possession.
