With the introduction of the new fishing system in Fortnite, there has been a steady shift in the meta. Even when the map was submerged underwater, the fishing dynamic felt broken in the game. However, with Chapter 2, Season 4, Epic Games added a new fishing dynamic, which has changed the way floppers are played.

Indeed, this was one of the technical upgrades in Fortnite that is different from others. With the new meta being driven by mythic weapons from the Avengers, players are finding alternative ways to take advantage of fishing. 

Legendary Midas Fish found in Fortnite

Out of all the fishes, two of the rarest ones are The Vendetta Fish and The Midas Fish. The Midas flopper saw a 1% spawn rate increase with the latest update. Immediately, players started finding the fish in different areas.

Popular streamers and fans started uploading clips of how they found the flopper. However, most of them were excited to see what happens when one consumes it. Tabor Hill made a comprehensive video explaining the aftermath.

There is a significant parallel over here, as The Authority used to be Midas’s old home. This fuels the theory that the Midas Fish is just another version of him from a different dimension. 

“Next thing you want to do is get yourself a Pro Fishing Rod.” With the recent update, Epic Games removed the explosive on water technique for fishing. Additionally, in order to catch high ranked fishes, one has to use the Fishing Rods.

The entire inventory turns into legendary status

The rumors that the Midas Fish changes the entire inventory were tested. The Pistol did not change the level, however, every other gun was increased to Legendary status. Thus, this proved that the Midas flopper indeed turns the inventory to Gold.

Players need to search every fishing hole in and about The Authority to get one of these. However, it is best to try it out first in the Lab. They would need to be extra cautious while doing it in a match.
