One game that was a massive hit this year was the Resident Evil 4 Remake. The game gave players a chance to enjoy one of the best titles from PlayStation 2. It is a part of a franchise that defined how gamers from a era perceive survival horror. Similarly, while not seeing a release in recent times, Silent Hill also shared in making gamers fans of horror. With each series being a behemoth on its own, what happens when the two come together?

One Reddit user found out the answer. This user visited a church in Cambodia that resembled the church from Resident Evil 4. The church, however, was surrounded in a thick fog, reminiscent of the setting for Silent Hill.

An unexpected crossover between Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill

The church in Resident Evil 4 plays an important role. Agent Leon Kennedy, tasked with rescuing Ashley Graham, the US President’s daughter. She is taken hostage in Spain by a cult with ulterior motives. As Leon reaches the town, he journeys through, eventually finding Ashley in a church, with the rest of the game playing out.

The same church appeared to a fan, as they visited a church it Cambodia. The church does look similar to the one in Resident Evil 4. However, that is not what fans found interesting. What made it special was the fog that surrounded the church, reminding gamers of another PlayStation classic, Silent Hill.

For fans who do not remember, the fog world in Silent Hill plays a major role in the story. The fog shrouds the town of Silent Hill. It is responsible for the horrors players face in the game, as players fade in and out of dream and reality.

Finding this crossover was an unexpected delight for fans. The two titles remains amongst the most influential games of all time, drawing players to the survival horror genre even today.

Once fans saw the video, there was no stopping the memes and comments. The fan who found the church got encouragement from Redditors to go into the church and rescue Ashley from her captors.

As one fan pointed out it was the mixture of Silent Hill and Resident Evil 4, another played out a letter from Mary. This was from Silent Hill, only with the iconic Leon Kennedy in place of James.

It raised an interesting question. How would Leon Kennedy fare in the world of Silent Hill? Would he continue to shoot down his enemies and deliver round-house kicks while carrying out his mission? This is as close as we will get to ever finding the answer.

The church was a reminder of two of the best horror franchises ever created. While Resident Evil 4 continues its journey, fans hope to see a new installment in the Silent Hill franchise at Gamescom 2023.
