Gaming is no longer confined to bulky desktop PCs, thanks to a giant leap in technology. Portability is becoming an essential feature, and that must have been the primary reason, probably, why Google Stadia was introduced back in 2019. However, the cloud gaming service hasn’t delivered on what it aspired to achieve.

It won’t be wrong to say that Google Stadia, which arrived to serve as a cross-platform service, has apparently begun to disappear already. But it didn’t happen overnight as there are certain significant reasons responsible for that.

Google Stadia fails to live up to expectations

But what did actually go wrong that forced Google to take such steps to downplay on Stadia?

The platform has not been able to become a go-to service among the users. Mostly it has also received mixed responses from those who have had an experience with it, trying various gaming titles.

To grab the attention, in order to make it work, Google even tried to offer three months of Google Stadia free to YouTube Premium subscribers. It used to give them access to Stadia Pro’s collection of popular titles.

In 2021, Bloomberg reported that Google Stadia players were not satisfied with the cloud service. Because the platform required them to purchase individual titles instead of having a single subscription offer that gave them access to a vast library itself.

Furthermore, last year, Google also closed down its projects related to Stadia. Moreover, gaming veteran Jade Raymond, who was Vice President and Head of Games and Entertainment at Google, also left the company in 2021. She left the company when Google’s ideas and her ideas weren’t aligned.

After the constant failures, Google Stadia may witness another setback in the future, in case there’s no positive outcome. And it seems unlikely that the tides will turn for good as far as the streaming service is concerned.
