Genshin Impact is one of the most popular Gacha games in the community. Furthermore, it generated around $2 billion in worldwide player spending just from the mobile version in the first year of release. In addition to that, it also won the Best Mobile Game award back in Game Awards 2021.

After gaining a tremendous amount of popularity, several players are having high hopes from developers for the future. Interestingly, miHoYo (Genshin Impact developer) has rebranded itself to HoYoverse. Naturally, many users got confused by miHoYo’s actions, especially after earning such immense success in just one year of Genshin Impact’s release.

Why did miHoYo rebrand to HoYoverse?

The studio mentioned it is aiming to create an immersive virtual world experience for players worldwide. Furthermore, it also announced that it is planning to expand its entertainment content by releasing virtual character Lumi and the N0va Desktop App, anime, manga, light novels, and music among others.

Haoyu Cai, co-founder, and CEO of HoYoverse said, “Our mission in establishing HoYoverse is to create a vast and content-driven virtual world that integrates games, anime, and other diverse types of entertainment, which will provide players with a high level of freedom and immersion.

The studio also states that the release of HoYoverse reflects its commitment to entertain its global audiences. Moreover, it also mentions how Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Tears of Themis received a warm welcome globally.

What new will HoYoverse have?

Haoyu Cai further explained, “We will continue to focus on long-term operation strategies, consistent technical research, and innovation in a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and pipeline construction, to ensure that sufficient content is created to meet the expectations of players worldwide for a virtual world experience.”

The blog also mentions that the studio is planning to expand the company’s offices around the world. This includes Los Angeles, Montreal, Seoul, Singapore, and Tokyo. HoYoverse plans to enhance its capacities and capabilities to provide high-quality content worldwide.

It mentions that with the help of global talent and employees; it wants to continue to research and develop cutting-edge technologies. Other than that, there are also rumors regarding HoYoverse branding being only for the Western world. If you visit the Chinese miHoYo website, you will notice the miHoYo logo is still intact.

However, the logo has been replaced by HoYoverse on non-Chinese platforms. Recently, developers also had to release new in-game skins for Jean, Amber, Mona, and Rosaria in order to keep character designs in line with Chinese regulations. Therefore, we can also assume that another reason might be the studio trying to distance its Western projects from Chinese regulations.

Apart from the rebranding news, the future of miHoYo looks dazzling in the community. Furthermore, the release of the new character, Yae Miko, and quests in Genshin Impact have excited several fans. Not to mention, developers have already announced the release date of the upcoming region, the Chasm, in the 2.6 updates.
