Will Outsourcing of God of War PC Affect the Game?

Sony’s Santa Monica Studio finally gave fans a date for their most anticipated title, God of War PC, last week. Following their decision to make exclusive catalog titles available to a larger demographic, Kratos now will step into the PC world on January 14, 2022. But as fans celebrated their favorite title’s prospective arrival, new reports have emerged, claiming God of War PC now has a new developer.

With the release date fast approaching, where does it leave God of War PC? Will the new studio live up to the expectations of the Kratos’ fans? Or will Sony’s decision come back to haunt them?

God of War PC: a new home

Talking to reporters at Arstechnica, representatives of the gaming company confirmed the game is primarily being developed by Canadian developers, Jetpack Interactive. Thankfully, Santa Monica is not completely out of the picture. And there’s still a lot of hope for those who aren’t too sure about the new devs’ capabilities.

Along with stating the new developers for the title, Sony reassured the fans claimed God of War PC would be “overseen” by Santa Monica Studio.

While Sony promised to offer the 2018 title’s revamped edition in true 4K resolution, we can only hope there aren’t any shortcomings.

Even though Jetpack Interactive has not worked with Sony on any previous title, the developers deserve full credit for plenty of games loved by the community; games like Dark Souls PC, various NBA live games, and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare II are in the mix.

The game originally launched back in 2018 and has sold close to 20 million copies on PS4 alone. The sequel to the game, God of War Ragnarök, is also expected to launch in 2022.
