Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is the ongoing installment from Activision, but the hype for its successor has already begun to make some buzz. Thanks to the recent leaks from credible sources, it’s already been revealed that Modern Warfare III is reportedly going to be the next major premium offering from the publisher in 2023.

While the title is yet to get an official announcement, it’s likely to believe that it will be the next entry in the action franchise. Coming after the huge success of MWII, the rumored game will have a lot of ground to cover. Especially when it comes to establishing new sales milestones.

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, Activision’s 2022 premium title had created a record-breaking milestone upon its global debut. Infinity Ward’s sequel to 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare turned out so big, that it ended up becoming the fastest game in Call of Duty series’ history to make $1 billion. To be precise, it managed to reach this figure in just ten days. While doing so, it also beat a decade-old record of the classic Black Ops II from Treyarch, which had earned a billion dollars in fifteen days.

But now, all eyes will be on this year’s upcoming installment. The game will have a lot to prove to the entire COD community. Given the current circumstances of fans not liking Activision’s games due to numerous reasons, Modern Warfare III will have to restore their faith once again in the long-running saga. Moreover, it will also have to be a record-breaking entry in terms of overall sales.

Apart from grossing $1 billion in 10 days, Modern Warfare II was also the best-selling video game of 2022. Hence, the rumored title from Sledgehammer will have to tick all the necessary boxes in order to make a solid impression.
