The live in-game concert blurred the lines between gaming, music, and celebrity, creating an immersive and unprecedented virtual experience. Players were transported to a virtual stage within Fortnite, where Marshmello, the EDM producer, performed a 10-minute mini-set. Epic Games introduced a special game mode for the concert, based on the team rumble mode. This mode allowed players to respawn and disabled the use of weapons for the entire 10-minute event, ensuring everyone had an uninterrupted viewing experience.

The virtual stage came to life with building-sized holograms of Fortnite characters, accompanied by a custom set of graphics behind Marshmello’s avatar. Interactive elements were incorporated, such as altering gravity at specific points in sync with the dance music, causing players to bounce into the sky or float in place.

Travis Scott Concert in Fortnite

Epic Games set the stage for the Travis Scott concert by gradually constructing a stage at the Sweaty Sands beach over the preceding days. The stage featured a black platform on water, along with multiple gold, inflatable Travis Scott heads around it. The pre-show involved players engaging in combat, a common occurrence in Fortnite events, while the stage was being set.

The concert started with the Astroworld planet approaching players on a circle screen on stage. The music built up until the screen vanished and the real Astroworld approached the crowd and, with an explosion, Travis Scott appeared. Unlike traditional concert settings, the entire Fortnite island served as the stage for Travis Scott’s performance. Visuals changed dynamically with the music, including a giant Travis Scott stomping around the island, underwater scenes, psychedelic effects, and players flying around the planet.

The 15-minute set was described as an experience exclusive to the virtual space, allowing players to float through the air while witnessing a humongous rapper walking across an ocean. The Travis Scott concert was part of a tour, in contrast to previous one-off Fortnite events.

Ariana Grande Concert in Fortnite

The Ariana Grande tour is portrayed as the culmination of Fortnite’s integrated storytelling. Previous concerts like Marshmello and Travis Scott were mentioned as one-off experiences, while the Ariana Grande event tied into multiple aspects of Fortnite’s ongoing narrative.

On the topic of Ariana Grande’s concert, Donald Mustard, Epic’s chief creative officer, told The Verge, “It was an opportunity to almost create a new medium.” Fortnite’s unique storytelling approach involves live events and an ever-changing world, shaping a long-running narrative without a traditional plot or characters.

The concert was more than just music; players were taken through a portal and experienced mini-game-style activities. The experiences included sliding along a paint-covered slide, bouncing around a world reminiscent of The Lorax, and piloting a plane to take down a former Fortnite raid boss, the Storm King.

Kid LAROI, Concert in Fortnite

The latest Fortnite Concert showcases The Kid LAROI, an Australian singer, rapper, and songwriter associated with Sony Music. Players with Fortnite accounts could enter the concert by accessing the Creative Map titled, “The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams” in the discovery tab. The visual aspects of Wild Dreams included venturing into the Laroitown cybercity, providing a captivating backdrop for the concert.

After the performance, players could join The Kid LAROI in the Afterparty experience, listening to the Wild Dreams mix and exploring the rapper’s journey. Players entering the Creative Map “The Kid LAROI’s Wild Dreams” during a specified timeframe could receive the Reverberate Map for free.

Cosmetic items related to The Kid LAROI, such as outfits, back blings, pickaxes, emotes, and lobby tracks, were available in the Item Shop and through quests.
