The next Apple launch is set to become the first ever iPhone to provide hardware-based ray tracing. For context, the hardware- ray tracing is a technology most of the gaming PCs use. The advantage of using this feature is the detailing and smoothness it provides in the visual graphics of a title. When compared to the devices that lack this feature, there’s an evident difference in the visual detailing like shadows, motion, and lighting.

Apple wasn’t the first to deliver hardware-based ray tracing for mobile devices; Qualcomm and Samsung both came out with new mobile CPUs that could perform the function before Apple. According to Apple official site, the A17 Pro is the most recent smartphone with the fastest ray-tracing speed. But with all other implementations of technology, the iPhone 15 Pro makes the strongest case for using the full potential of ray tracing. The A17 Pro chipset, which Apple claims to be the fastest ever in a mobile device, powers the iPhone 15 Pro. The chip was created utilizing a 3 nanometer (nm) technique, which is a first for the industry.

Another major upgrade is “the biggest redesign in the history of Apple’s GPUs,” which offers 20% quicker performance all around. According to Apple, the six-core GPU in the A17 Pro delivers greater peak performance and achieves enhanced energy efficiency.
