Ahead of Microsoft’s 2021 annual shareholders meeting later this month, the company has released a financial filing that shares vital information about the state of the Xbox Game Pass. As per the details in the said filing, the subscriber count has risen by 37% from last year but has failed to meet the milestone established by Xbox and Microsoft.
The company was looking to see a rise of 48% which means that the company still needs to review its policies about subscriber growth. A noted industry analyst Daniel Ahmad expects that the Xbox Game Pass subscriber count was somewhere around 20 million as of June 30, 2021, which is not a bad thing for Xbox.

A month back, 2K Games chief Strauss Zelnick estimated that Game Pass had managed to reach the 30 million mark that led to many wondering what the real number was. Phil Spencer did not agree or deny that number, adding to all the rumors. With this new filing and the shareholders meeting planned for November 30, you can expect a clear figure to be released.
With that said, the Xbox Game Pass will continue to grow as Microsoft adds more features and studios under its belt. Sony, on the other hand, is still trying to figure out a way to rival the service.
