Gaming Analyst Tom Piscatella took to Twitter to reveal an interesting stat about the gaming industry. According to Piscatella “June 2021 consumer spending across video game hardware, content and accessories grew 5% when compared to a year ago, totaling $4.9 billion.” Furthermore, consumer spending during the first half of 2021 saw a 15% increase as compared to the same period in 2020.

Xbox has also made big strides during the month of June. According to NPD, dollar sales of Xbox consoles were at an all-time high for the Xbox platform, surpassing the previous high set in June 2011. Despite this impressive achievement from Xbox, Nintendo continues to dominate unit sales. As per reports, the Nintendo Switch sold the most console units during the month.
