Xbox Smash Hit Hi-Fi Rush Proves Having a $70 Price Tag Is Not the Winning Formula for Modern Games

Bethesda’s rhythm-based, recently released Xbox-exclusive Hi-Fi Rush has been nothing less than a sweet surprise. Especially for those gamers who were hoping to get a fresh and unique title in 2023. It looks like this game will fulfill their wish, for sure. Because it can be called one of its kind – at least right now.
The most interesting thing, however, in the case of Hi-Fi Rush is that it’s not like any other new game that comes in at a flagship cost. Instead, it is currently available for just $40. Additionally, it’s also available on the Xbox Game Pass and is outselling a lot of other heavyweights out there. Especially those that cost more than $60 these days.

In his tweet, he mentioned that Bethesda’s title has shown how a good game needs to be. It doesn’t have to be a $70 title, which most of the projects tend to be these days. As per Mike, “the $70 price point is actually a piss-take, and games needing to be more expensive is complete bullshi*t”.
Wait, so Hi-Fi Rush is a $40 game, available on Game Pass, and is outselling other recently released $70 games?
Man, it's as if the $70 price point is actually a piss-take, and games needing to be more expensive is complete bullshit

What he wanted to convey with this tweet is that most of the games these days are priced so high that it doesn’t make any sense. Because not all of them end up impressing the players. This is a fact, given the situation of numerous releases in the last year. In the end, what works in favor of a title is its design and the overall experience it offers to the players. If it succeeds in giving them satisfaction and joy, it will be a hit no matter what. And the $40 Hi-Fi Rush for the Xbox is a lesson for other developers in more ways than one.
