The age-old debate about which is better arises once more: PC or Xbox? Each platform has its unique pros and cons, but the ultimate decision depends on the gamer’s needs and the PC’s specs. PCs hold an inherent advantage over Xbox as they can be upgraded anytime to enhance their performance. The main question still remains, which platform is better for gaming?

A YouTuber named PC Centric recently conducted a head-to-head battle between an Xbox Series X and a PC equipped with an RTX 4070 GPU. With the GPU alone in the PC costing more than the entire console, noticeable performance differences emerged in the tests. That being said, the question still stands what platform should gamers choose?

During PC Centric’s tests, they examined systems across four games at varying settings. The comparison used an LG GQ 950 monitor, boasting a 32-inch 4K display and an impressive 160Hz refresh rate. It’s worth noting that the Xbox ran at 120Hz due to HDMI 2.1 limitations. The games were evaluated from the perspectives of keyboard, mouse, and controller usage.

In the tests, four games were monitored: Red Dead Redemption 2, Gears 5, Fortnite, and Call of Duty Warzone. Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Xbox maintained a stable 30FPS but only offered controller support. On the other hand, the PC tests for RDR2 delivered a superior experience with frame rates often surpassing 60 FPS. Additionally, PC gamers enjoyed the precision of mouse and keyboard controls, enhancing overall gameplay.

Gears 5 played seamlessly on the Xbox with controller support, likely exceeding 60 FPS. Meanwhile, the PC version granted players greater customization options and precise mouse and keyboard control. Fortnite on Xbox supported 120 Hz with a controller and no peripheral support, while the PC offered even higher frame rates and extensive graphical settings. PC gamers can choose between mouse/keyboard and a controller.  The final test was of Call of Duty Warzone, which ran well on Xbox but lacked the visual fidelity of high-end PCs. PC gamers enjoy better graphics, higher frame rates, and precise aiming with a mouse and keyboard.

The final verdict on PC vs. Xbox

According to the tests, it was clear that the PC stands victorious when it comes to performance. Many can say that the Xbox is a better platform too as it costs much less than a PC with the 4070, making it the best bank for your buck investment. While picking a platform, gamers need to understand the main differences and strengths of Xbox and PC gaming to make informed choices that match their gaming goals.
