Valkyrae has landed herself in unnecessary controversy. The past few weeks have been dreadful at the Balenciaga headquarters after users called them out for their recent marketing campaign. They posted pictures of children featuring their Spring/Summer 2023 collection under the project “The Gift Collection.”

For the project, Balenciaga reached out to National Geographic photographer Gabriele Galimberti, famous for ‘Toy Stories.’ So, having a similar idea, the brand wanted to feature the models showing the products.

Sadly, the teddy-bear-looking bags became the main source of controversy as customers found them offensive. They found the product to be threatening in several ways, calling out the brand in public. And while the Balenciaga headquarters surfed through these troubled waters, YouTube streamer Valkyrae became a part of it unknowingly.

Valkyrae in troubled waters over the Balenciaga controversy

For years, Balenciaga has stood out among brands for its uniqueness and style. It has enthralled thousands of customers, celebrities, famous personalities, and more to buy the apparel despite the high costs. However, Balenciaga’s style has always raised questions as users have failed to understand the concept. And now, it has fallen prey to a controversy over its spring collection 2023.

Amidst this chaos, Valkyrae, a streamer nowhere close to the brand, found herself to be a part of the controversy. This came after the 100Thieves co-owner wore a Fortnite X Balenciaga hoodie on stream. Fans were not happy looking at this, as the brand was under major backlash. And Valkyrae wearing an apparel connected to it became a trigger point.

So, thousands of fans trolled her for her outfit, asking her to change right away during one of her streams. “Yes, I know Balenciaga was canceled, I understand, but I figured no one would see it under my jacket,” she said.

Despite the constant complaints from fans, Valkyrae hid the hoodie under her hair and jacket. The streamer also added, “I already own it! It’s not like I’m gonna go buy more. It’s just, I have this, it’s a Fortnite x Balenciaga collab, they were canceled because they had a really bad promo, thing, I actually don’t know the full story, but it was a bad thing, I just saw, Oop, Balenciaga, that’s bad!”

As she promised that she was unaware of the full story, it was clear that Valkyrae had no intention of promoting the brand. For her, the hoodie was a simple apparel that she owned and wore to work on a Friday evening.
