The uncrowned queen of Twitch loves to venture into different genres to entertain her audience. These include playing games like Valorant or Among Us, to even ‘Just Chatting’ streams.

One thing that Pokimane fans know for sure is her popular ‘unban streams’. Imane has dedicated countless videos which are oriented around accepting and rejecting unban forms. From there, we have seen some very blatant and toxic comments which can cause uneasiness for most people.

Though Poki has taken these like a champ and has given out some fitting replies, she has also faced toxicity through the misogynist’s eyes when playing online games. In an interview with the New York Times, the 26-year-old streamer was seen talking about these aspects.

Poki opened up about a shocking factor in the streaming business. That is, many from the streaming industry had a very subtle take on the omnipresent misogyny. According to her, many consider misogyny as something that can be ignored and put aside. She feels that people try to gaslight others to think these mentally draining actions are not a big deal.

Pokimane talked about how these negatively affect a person’s mental condition. Especially if they were subjugated to these misogynistic experiences. Brushing such actions aside is something that should not happen.

Poki’s first toxic experience and what she identified as its cause

“Young kids need to be taught how to treat people online,” stated Poki. When Imane first started receiving such reactions when she went online, it confused the streamer. More than being offended, this toxic behavior made Poki question quite a lot of things. She first thought about whether young boys always behave this way.

But later realized the real enemy in the picture. The primary protection that enables such onslaughts of toxicity comes from the very factor of anonymity. It is quite a powerful tool that came as a byproduct of the internet. Thus, if not used positively, these can become quite dangerous.

Poki is not the first streamer to face the implications of misogyny and toxicity. Valorant streamer Kyedae has often pointed out how online games become breeding grounds for toxicity through the misogynistic purview.

QTCinderella also pointed this out, as she also experienced such derogatory actions from anonymous online figures. Unfortunately, as long as strong legal action is not taken against these people, who use internet anonymity to spread toxicity, there is a high chance of these being repeated.
