The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has broken the internet with its launch. Not to mention, it was indeed able to live up to its predecessor’s legacy and fans are going crazy about it. Furthermore, it left the Nintendo community in a state of frenzy by achieving a perfect review score.

It’s been six long years since BOTW’s release and the sequel is expected to have the biggest launch for Nintendo in 2023. Apart from its amazing open-world mechanics, TOTK will also follow the left-behind story from BOTW. While most fans are interested to explore the Zelda: TOTK universe, some are only focusing on building their character with immense power.

For such players, the first thing they need to focus on is getting their hands on Master Sword. Unfortunately, players lose Link’s master sword at the beginning of the game. So, here’s how to find your way back to the Master Sword in TOTK.

How to get the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Master Sword is a fictional divine magic sword in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series. In Breath of the Wild, Nintendo describes Master Sword as “the legendary sword that seals the darkness”. It is also named the “Master Sword of Resurrection”. As its name suggests, Master Sword’s classic ability is the power to vanquish evil.

Surprisingly, at the beginning of TOTK, Master Sword is already in the possession of Link. However, it gets corrupted by Ganondorf during the prologue, and Link loses the damaged version as well. Players have to find their way back to the Master Sword as the story goes on. There are two ways to get the Master Sword.

Normal Method: Deku Tree

One of the easiest ways to look for Master Sword is by learning its location from the Deku Tree. However, in order to do so, there are some simple tasks players need to complete first.

Step I: You’ll have to cleanse the Great Hyrule Forest, which isn’t even part of the main quest.

Step II: Talk to the Deku Tree and receive the ‘Recovering the Master Sword quest.’

Step III: After starting the quest, players will learn it’s on the head of the Light Dragon. Therefore, they will have to find a way to reach the Light Dragon first.

Step IV: Depending on its current location, use the nearest Skyview Tower to reach it.

Step V: Players can run from its tail to the head (where the sword is located). Once players make contact with the Master Sword, a minigame occurs for Link to retrieve the sword.

Step VI: The minigame requires two full stamina circles to complete.

Step VII: Once you complete the minigame, you will be able to retrieve the Master Sword back.

Accidental Method

Several players asked if talking to Deku Tree is the only way to know the Master Sword’s location. Interestingly, Deku Tree only helps players learn the half-truth about the Master Sword’s location. In simple words, users only learn that the Master Sword is on the head of the Light Dragon.

Therefore, it’s indeed possible to collect the Master Sword without receiving the ‘Recovering the Master Sword quest.’ If you directly head to the Light Dragon, you will be able to get the Master Sword by completing the minigame. This is another great way for players to learn the truth about Master Sword simply by exploring the open world.

Breath of the Wild was able to create a huge name in the community thanks to its splendid open-world mechanics. It won numerous players’ hearts and put a lot of pressure on Nintendo for meeting users’ expectations while developing TOTK. However, Nintendo indeed didn’t disappoint the Zelda fandom.
