The Legend of Zelda franchise has a rich history, charting the unending confrontation of Link and Zelda against Ganondorf in all of their incarnations. In this eternal battle between good and evil, many fans have speculative theories regarding the overarching universe. One theory, that has remained a hot topic for the community, was the relationship between Zelda and Link.

The nature of the relationship between the powers of light, Zelda and Link, has long been veiled in mystery. When the Zelda voice actress shared some views on this situation, it caused a massive uproar among players. Fans had finally found what they were looking for, however, their happiness did not last long.

Zelda’s voice actress debunks the myths about Zelda and Link’s relationship

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom voice actor Patricia Summersett shared some views which surprised many fans. Earlier, her words had suggested that Link and Zelda were in a romantic relationship. Seeing the effects she caused, Summersett issued a tweet clarifying her side. She said, “Several articles have misrepresented an interview I gave on Tears of the Kingdom, and have positioned it as clickbait and I want to set the record straight.”

She went on to explain her quote, which was taken out of context, does not imply Link and Zelda are a romantic couple. Her quote in question mentioned the ambiguity in the relationship between the two characters and states that it is up to the fans to decide what it was. However, fans were quick to jump the gun and assumed she meant that both of the characters were dating.

Clarifying her quote she said, “The quote means that we are all in different types of relationships -w/ friends, family, loves, colleagues, pets, trees, dubious food…It is not up to me to determine.” She also hoped that whatever the definition of these relationships was, they stay wonderful and inspiring.

This comment from the voice actor has completely silenced the dating rumors between the characters. Currently, Link will still remain the loyal guardian and protector of Hyrule, with Zelda calling him every time when the place is in danger.
