Fortnite has been taking a number of measures to upgrade the competitive experience in the game. Players have been complaining about a number of issues, the loudest being about the meta for competitive gaming.
As many fans have been complaining, the meta has been the same for the past six to nine months. The players are demanding a change ever since the premise of Season 3 for which it seems Epic Games might be noticing.
We have removed both Shockwave Grenades and Heavy Sniper Rifles from competitive playlists.

However, one of the main contentions that are raised by people right now is the unwanted vaulting and addition of weapons. Have a look at this tweet about removing some of the weapons in Season 3.
What are the fans saying about the Weapon meta in Fortnite?
The fans are not quite pleased with what Fortnite is currently offering with its weapons meta. Just as you can see here, NRG Aussie Antics says how Epic could rather focus on balancing things rather than just vaulting them or adding useless and broken ones.
Really wish we could look at balancing things rather than just vaulting them every time or add things less broken.
We are about to play basically the exact same season for over 9 months in competitive.

He also adds how adding new things and vaulting them the very season makes the differences very less, turning the game into a very stale one. There is a lot of scope for balanced and fun items that could be added.

Not even saying heavy snipers or shockwaves should or should not be in the game.
Just saying if we keep adding new things then vaulting them we're in the exact same season. There's so little differences it gets so stale.
So many balanced fun items could be added.

Here is another tweet by professional Fortnite player Mero who is asking the developers to nerf the AUG weapon.
Since fortnite is supposedly listening @FNCompetitive can you guys please nerf the AUG🙏

Fixing the meta of competitive games when fans are complaining is of utmost importance for any game developer. Making the meta balanced and fun adds up to the fun and spirits within the competitive arena. Players find it extremely frustrating when someone has an extremely buffed weapon while they have a weapon that is unnecessarily nerfed.

A few seasons back in 2021, even Call of Duty: Warzone was facing this issue of an imbalanced meta. However, the issue seems to be much more stable now, if not to the utmost perfection.
Here is what the fans have to say regarding Season 3, now that the developers seem to be heeding player opinions.

Perhaps, the developers at Epic Games might be realising that if these issues are not fixed, maybe then it would bring forth the downfall of Fortnite.
