Resident Evil 3 remake’s record-breaking sales

The culmination of both the digital and the physical versions of the game led to the selling of so many units worldwide. This number is based on all gaming platforms the game is compatible with. That is PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Resident Evil 3 remake is so definitive that it has secured a place in Capcom’s Platinum Titles list. The game sits securely in the 14th position, just behind Devil May Cry 5.

A report was released by Capcom called the Capcom 2021 Integrated Report. The report stated that this financial success was because of the large portion of sales for the digital version of the title.

Capcom had reported that the Resident Evil 3 remake sold 2 million units worldwide in April 2021. This was merely 5 days after the release of the game; digital purchases accounted for about half of the sales.

It is worth noting that the original Resident Evil 3 sold 3.5 million copies for the PlayStation.

The game critically did not perform as well as the remake of its predecessor. This is because of the fact that there were a significant number of scenes and content missing from the remake that was featured in the original version of the game.
