Capcom had reported that the Resident Evil 3 remake sold 2 million units worldwide in April 2021. This was merely 5 days after the release of the game; digital purchases accounted for about half of the sales.

It is worth noting that the original Resident Evil 3 sold 3.5 million copies for the PlayStation.

The game critically did not perform as well as the remake of its predecessor. This is because of the fact that there were a significant number of scenes and content missing from the remake that was featured in the original version of the game.

Adding on, according to Capcom, the entirety of the series has done incredibly well. As of March 2021, the series had sold a grand total of 110 million copies. The records also include the revised sales of Village as well as the sales of both of the remakes.
