World No. 211 Bouchard straight-sets win over Maddison Inglis on Thursday put her just one win away from the main draw in Melbourne. However, her loss against the World No. 154 Martina Trevisan eliminated her from the tournament. This will be the first time that the 2014 semifinalist will not be playing the Australian Open main draw since 2013.

29 unforced errors from Bouchard

The Canadian saved four break point opportunities in the second and sixth game of the opening set. However, the 25-year-old was broken while serving to stay in the set at 5-4. Bouchard did not earn a single break chance in the set.

Bouchard started to find her rhythm after being down 5-0 in the second set and started to hit the ball more cleanly. She was also up 15-30 at 5-3, but her 29 unforced errors ultimately were her undoing and cost her the match. On the other hand, Martina Trevisan qualified for a Grand Slam main draw for the first time at the age of 26.
